ECOMMUNITY HOUSING, Sheikhupura | A project by Pebbles Private Limited | ARCHITECTS SR DESIGNWORKS
The Ecommunity project is the first ecologically sensitive development in Pakistan. The show home was designed as a sustainable model for energy conservation, reduction in water use and boasts massive design element like excellent daylight in rooms, cross ventilation, courtyards and green separation walls between houses. It also has active elements like double glazed windows, green roof, LED light fixtures and inverter based air conditioning and heating.
Our challenge was to come up with a warm and contemporary scheme complimenting the architecture without intimidating the prospective buyers. Only one concept was presented and subsequently approved.
The clients wanted the show home interior design and furnishing to give them the premium that they could not make off the construction development while competing with other developers in the area. Low maintenance local material use was to be maximised and only items which were not available in Pakistan or were not up to standard were to be imported.
Only one house was to be furnished representing the possibilities the community had to offer and the entire marketing campaign was to be based on it. All design solutions solutions were to be practical and not just space fillers. Rooms were to be designed not only to look good in the media campaign but also to show real quality, high end finishing and practicality.
